There a few contributing factors as to why your IOS device's battery could be draining quickly.

  • Screen brightness: Turning on screen brightness can drain the battery.
  • Bluetooth, GPS, or Wi-Fi: Turning on these features can drain the battery.
  • Open apps: Keeping too many apps open at once can wear down RAM and shorten the battery's life. Apps often continue to run in the background, even when not in active use, and use battery power.
  • Auto-lock settings: If auto-lock is turned off or set to a longer time frame, the screen will stay on and drain the battery.
  • Raise to wake: This feature continuously activates the screen and some software elements, which can drain the battery quickly, especially if the phone is picked up multiple times a day.
  • Push notifications: Each alert can cause the phone screen to light up, and depending on settings, it may also trigger a ringtone or vibration, which all use battery life.
  • Overcharging: Overcharging can also cause a battery to drain quickly and lead to poor battery health.
  • Location services: The GPS chip in a phone uses extra power to run location services, which constantly transmit the phone's location and calculate distances.

Here are some things you can try to prevent your handheld's battery from draining quickly:
    • Auto Lock Settings: Turn the screen off by pressing the power button on the side when not in use.  Or you can change the Auto-lock settings - Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock > change to a shorter time.
    • Low Power Mode: This mode limits features that use up battery life, like email fetch and background app refresh.
    • Settings > Battery > Toggle on Low Power Mode
    • Screen brightness
    • Reduce the brightness of your screen by going to Settings > Display & Brightness and dragging the slider. You can also try turning on Dark Mode.
    • Background app refresh
    • Disabling this feature can help save your battery life
    • Disabling Raise to Wake
    • Settings > Display & Brightness > Toggle off Raise to Wake
    • Automatic brightness
    • This feature uses ambient light to adjust your screen's brightness, which can help save your battery. You can adjust it yourself from the Control Center or by going to Settings > Accessibility > Display and Text.
    • Charging optimization
    • Overcharging your battery can lead to poor battery health, so you should turn on optimized battery charging. You can do this by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and scrolling to the bottom.
    • Update your iPhone
