NOTE: Prior to September 28, 2022, Product Specific Messages were located within Web Portal Settings under the Control tab.
What are Product-Specific Messages?
These are automated messages that will send immediately after the transaction. These messages will send in addition to your main receipt, they do not replace the receipt. Transactions must occur within XTruLink in order for your Product-Specific message to send. This could be a Web Portal, Kiosk, or MPOS transaction.
Product Specific Messages can be configured to send for the following Altru products:
- Programs (daily admission, scheduled, or pre-registered)
- Membership Programs
- Donation Designations
- Combinations
Once your message Template (message content) is created, Product-Specific Messages are configured via Cloud Setup on the product page.
How to Configure a Product-Specific Message
As an example, if you want to add a Product-Specific message for a particular designation, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Cloud Setup > Donation Designations
- Find the desired designation and click the Edit icon
- On the Sales Order Message tab, select your message template from the dropdown list under Program Specific Email Message
- Click Save Changes
The same process applies for Programs, Memberships, and Combinations.

NOTE: If you create a Product Specific Message for a Combination, this message will override any Product Specific Messages you've created for the programs within the Combination.

What are Product-Specific Receipt Inserts?
Instead of sending an additional Product-Specific Message, you might just want to add some additional information about a specific item in your main Receipt Message. Product-Specific Receipt Inserts are configured via Cloud Setup and can be added to a Receipt Message using the variable merge code: {{ product_specific_receipt_insert}}.
